After graduating from college in 2016 with an English degree from a Liberal Arts school, Molly Wilcox wasn’t quite sure what her next step would be, naturally. She spent her early twenties doing various jobs ranging from serving wine and beer in Santa Barbara to learning corporate jargon as a strategy consultant at Wells Fargo in San Francisco. After realizing that living and working among Techies in gray Patagonia vests was not her dream life, the Bay Area native quit her corporate job and moved to the mountains. In Lake Tahoe she would work at a small independent newspaper, Moonshine Ink, and rediscover her love of writing and reporting.
In between reporting on local news and snowboarding, Wilcox applied to NYU’s journalism program to get her master’s degree. Although she’s traveled to more than 20 countries in the past decade, a cross-country move was the biggest adventure yet for this 7th generation Californian. But not entirely unexpectedly, New York City has captured her heart, rats, sidewalk poop, humidity and all.
Published in New York Magazine, Architectural Digest, Salon, Cultured Magazine, V Magazine, Observer, Bedford + Bowery, Pavement Pieces, and Moonshine Ink, among others, Wilcox enjoys writing about women (doing literally any and everything), the restaurant industry, travel, small businesses, the arts, and current events.
